Western Rivers Conservancy seeks a top-notch real estate attorney with a passion for river conservation and a desire to work part-time. The Corporate Counsel, working closely with our lands team and a full-time paralegal, will help us put the West’s finest riverlands into permanent conservation.
Western Rivers Conservancy protects outstanding river ecosystems in the western United States through land acquisition. We buy land along river corridors and place it into permanent conservation in order to conserve critical habitat, provide public access for compatible use and enjoyment, and secure the health of whole ecosystems.
Since our inception
in 1988, Western Rivers Conservancy has protected critical riverlands along
more than 200 rivers and streams around the West including the John Day, Hoh,
Gunnison, Klamath and Rio Grande. To learn more about WRC’s current projects

The Corporate Counsel is a part-time (approximately 0.5 FTE) position responsible for supporting WRC’s management and project staff in all aspects of real property transactions and other legal matters related to Western Rivers Conservancy‘s mission. The Corporate Counsel must be an experienced transactional attorney with significant real estate experience, as he/she is involved in the legal aspects of land conservation transactions from acquisition to disposition, as well as corporate legal affairs. The position requires a hands-on legal technician and is supported by a full-time paralegal. The Corporate Counsel must have membership in the Oregon State Bar. This position is based in our Portland, Oregon headquarters.

A successful Corporate Counsel candidate will likely have:
COMPENSATION: The annual salary for this part-time (approximately
0.5 FTE) position is $70,000 - $90,000 depending on experience. This position
is eligible for WRC’s generous benefits package which includes medical, dental
and long-term disability insurance; employer contributions to a 403(b)
retirement plan; a flex plan and commuter benefit; and paid holidays, vacation
and sick leave.
